Tuesday, Feb. 3rd – Algorithms & Sorting

2/3/15 – Do Now – “Computational Thinking” is solving a problem by thinking like a computer and how a computer would solve that problem.

Write your own definition of Computational Thinking (in your own words).

7th Grade Below       8th Grade: Globaloria

I CAN…examine (look at; inspect) the algorithm functions then sort (organize) and sequence (put in order; put in a series) wood blocks by classification (categorizes).

1. Finish Computational Thinking from yesterday.

2. As a class discuss Algorithms: A set of calculations, instructions or rules that a computer would use to solve a problem.

3. You and your partner will follow the directions here: L2_Sorting Machines

4. Then you will sort cards using algorithms. Recreate some of the sorting algorithms from this youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/user/Shishberg/videos
