8th GRADE work on Globaloria.

7th GRADE work below:

I CAN observe (watch; notice) the video on Digital Imprint and visualize (imagine; think about) what kind of imprint I want to leave by describing (tell about; explain) details (exact items; specific) in two paragraphs with Google Docs.

Part I: Create a Google Doc, Name It, and Move It To The Correct Folder

1. Go to Apps (the colorful waffle) in the top left corner of your browser.  Plus

Click on Google Docs and then click on the blue + circle in the bottom right corner to create a new Google Doc.

2. Label your new Doc: FirstL_Digital Imprint. Example: VinnyC_Digital Resume

3. Click File–>Move to Folder–>Z Middle All (This way it is in the correct folder).

Part II: Digital Imprint

1.  Read these questions before watching the video. Keep these in mind while watching…

  • Q1:  When do you think your Digital Imprint began?
  • Q2: What kinds of thoughts come to mind while watching this video?

2. After watching, write a paragraph (5 sentence minimum) answering questions (Q1-Q3) below in the Google Doc you just created:

  • Q1. When do you think your Digital Imprint began?  (You may want to ask your parents about when they began posting information about you online when you get home tonight.)
  • Q2. What kinds of thoughts come to mind while watching this video?
  • Q3. What kind of information, gaming, pictures, etc…do know has been posted about you? Think of your social media or your parents online activities too.

3. Next, Google yourself using your first and last name and hometown e.g.“John Smith, Birmingham AL”.  Use quotation marks (” “) for a more accurate search. Answer these questions (Q4-Q8) in a new paragraph (5 sentence minimum) in same Doc.

  • Q4. What did you discover? Anything?
  • Q5. Think about the specific “footprints” or information you or someone else leaves behind on websites (such as what you viewed, typed, or accessed).  If this was the only information someone had about you, what would they think about you?
  • Q6. What assumptions would they make about your habits & behaviors?
  • Q7. What does your web presence say about you?
  • Q8. What kind of a web presence do you want to have in the future and what can you do to ensure (to make happen) you get that?
